"Lefty" is alive in today's protests
"Waiting For Lefty" shows us a union meeting in 1935 where workers are debating whether the time is finally right to strike when greedy employers take advantage of a bad economy to make the worker's lives even more desperate. They hear conflicting stories from their corrupt union bosses [not to strike] and their own families [the need to strike] , who show that need, only too sadly in a world where the "haves" have so much. Looking at today's news of strikes in Wisconsin and Ohio only prove that "Lefty's" time has not passed into history but has never been more alive than right now. This play was produced in NY and LA last year...only 2 productions across the US. You can see the 3rd..and in Waterfront South. You can still go to www.southcamdentheatre.org and order tix for the final 3 shows starting tonight. Do not miss it.
